Prevalence and Risk Factors of Oral Mucosal Lesions: A Retrospective Study of Patients Attending Oral Diagnosis Department of Siohs Karachi, Pakistan

Background: The present study was conducted to evaluate the frequency of different types Oral Mucosal Lesions (OMLs) and identify associated risk factors. Methodology: A retrospective at Department oral diagnosis in collaboration with department pathology SIOHS, Karachi Pakistan between January 2017 December 2020. All cases lesions ulcers cavity were included study. Missing data excluded. Diagnosed mucosal documented. then stratified according age groups, gender, symptoms, comorbidities, marital status, etc. Results: mean 38.3 ± 11.86 years observed. subjects manifested multiple OSF standing as most prevalent one 29%, followed by aphthous 20.2%, candidiasis 14%, nicotinic stomatitis 10.4%. majority patients significantly young while frictional keratosis elderly (p=0.002), respectively. 15 (93.8%) who married diagnosed squamous cell carcinoma (p<0.004) stiffening mouth (p<0.0001). Conclusion: In conclusion, increased occurrence is likely attributable an age-related decline health status highly correlated substance abuse; its amount, duration, type, regularity.
